The communication serviced offered by RedIRIS to the Spanish research and academic community are supported by a basic transport infrastructure, able to satisfy the technological requirements of the user institutions.

RedIRIS offers middleware services to its constituency, providing a layer mediating between the network and the applications, in charge of tasks like identification, authentication, authorization, security management, service location and mobility. This layer allows applications to get a better advantage of the network and simplify their interoperation by means of standard interface, offering better services to the user community with a lower effort.
